To respond to the user command, both the devices need to work together.  Unfortunately, sometimes this does not happen and users come with an issue that their Alexa not working or not responding to the voice inputs. Check Internet access

The first thing you need to do when Alexa stops responding is to check your internet and power connection. Make sure that your internet is working fine and in case not, you can restart the router. Also, check the power plug. It must be inserted properly in the electric socket. Make sure that your power adaptor is working fine and the device is getting a proper power supply.

Turn on the microphone button

You may forget to turn on the microphone button due to which Alexa is unable to listen to your commands. So check your microphone button, and if it is turned off, you need to turn it on and then proceed with the next troubleshooting step.

Echo and Alexa should be connected to the same network

Sometimes users carelessly read the manual and connect both the devices to a different network. This is the reason why Alexa not responding even after the setup. To check this, you need to check the network connection name in your Alexa app. Also, make sure that you connect both the devices to the same network.

Poor Wi-Fi range

Poor WiFi range is another possible reason due to which your Alexa may not respond to the voice commands.  Place your Echo and Alexa enabled devices within the range of your Wi-Fi network. There should be a minimum distance between the devices and the router.  Also, check if your Wi-fi is down. In such a situation, you need to restart the router and connect your devices again.

A simple restart sometimes is all you need to troubleshoot technical troubles that are coming in Alexa and Echo. Both the devices and see if that works. But, if your device is unresponsive, we recommend you to reset it to the factory default settings, and later, you can set up your device again.

  • On your Alexa app, go to the ‘Devices’ section.
